WE BELIEVE IN LOVE AND RESPECT OF ALL RELIGIONS
AN INCLUSIVE COMMUNITY FOR ALL CANADIANS
We believe in a multicultural Canadian society that accepts everyone, respects everyone and does not favor any specific group of people based on race, ethnicity or religion.
Politicians in Canada have adopted several policies and bylaws that violate the Canadian constitution, Charter of human rights and even some basic principles of Democracy.
On Wed apr 29, the Mississauga City Council approved the change of the noise by-law to allow places of worship to broadcast evening prayers on loudspeaker, without public consultation or following proper protocol for by-law changes.
We believe that Freedom of Religion also includes Freedom from Religion.
We therefore have taken it on ourselves through community collective action to reverse such violations through all legal and respectful means to do so.
WHO ARE WE
KROOPS: Keeping Religion Out Of Public Schools. We are a Canadian not - for - profit organization. KROOPS was formed in 2017 and we worked on raising a petition and attempted to fight the peel public school board divisive decision to allow congregational Friday prayers in Peel public schools.
Stemming from the same Vision we are now pursuing on a more current and crucial issue which is the specific accommodation and violation of bylaws to allow broadcast of prayers in Mississauga.
Our mission is not in anti-religious or anti any specific religion, it stems from our belief that religion does not belong in public in a secular society, and the Freedom of Religion also includes Freedom from Religion
WHY DO WE TAKE ISSUE WITH THE BROADCAST OF PRAYERS
Violation of a noise bylaw that is not a one off but an imposition for a month.
Disrespect to the neighborhood by forced participation. Those who do not wish to ascribe to such practice have no way to opt out for such a prolonged period. While we believe the City Council was driven by a compassionate motive during a COVID 19 period, we believe there are other means to deliver such evening prayers comfort without impacting or disrespecting others.
Disruption to the privacy and health of the community, e.g. elderly or infirm, people and young children who could be resting at that time of day, shift workers who need quiet time at home, etc.
Insensitivity and triggering to many veterans who are suffering from PTSD from tours in certain regions (the same honorable verses of the Azaan were used by terrorists in their rallying against western nations and when announcing their victories). The Muslims brothers are allied with us suggesting such initiatives create greater racial and cultural tensions and backlash, which we also wish to denounce.
HELP US TO SPREAD
LOVE AND RESPECT
Citizen action groups are unable to create dialogue without pressure at ties. In this case, the sitting representatives have forced us to a legal dialogue to fight for our rights and freedoms byt moving unilaterally without consultations. Please donate to help us start the legal battle

HOW YOU CAN HELP
Unity is strength, division is weakness.
This is a request for a peaceful coexistence founded on mutual respect. Please help share this message with family and friends!
Petitions: Many groups have started petitioning the Mississauga, Milton, Brampton and Toronto City council to reverse the decision to accommodate the broadcasting of prayers without community input, infringement on other people’s freedom of belief including the privilege to not participate
Communications: Connecting people of the same view by creating engagement with volunteer opportunities: We are not wanting anyone who wishes to follow their faith including the Muslim community to mistake this as a faith based response. We support the right to practice faith without creating conflict with the community. As such, we are working on establishing a news letter and forum to share updates, provide transparency and combat fake news, working in a collaborative fashion to build community that must include our Muslim friends, denouncing hate speech and divisive actions within our neighborhoods and setting an example by being productive and positive in our goals. Lawsuit: we believe in the law of the land and plan to hire a professional team to obtain legal advice before approaching the Mississauga city council. We perceive the passing of such accommodations impacting the general public without consultations, as unilateral action causing an oppression of privacy and peaceful living. We hope to set precedence for further advocacy by the people in a) defending themselves against the city of Toronto, Milton and Brampton, etc and b) building more positive communities that work together cross culturally. We hope you’ll join us in this effort! Donate now!
